Hole No. 1 - “The Hanging Tree” (Par 4)
Only 311 yards but a tough opening hole especially off the medal tee. Central placement of the tee shot is crucial and a challenging second shot over the duck pond to a tricky green will leave many a player reloading - in fact if you have only one Pro-V1 in your bag keep it for later!

Hole No. 2 - “Ravenhill Reach” (Par 4)
With out of bounds on the left, the 331 yard second hole also needs accuracy although longer hitters can try to thread a tee shot between the strategically placed fairway bunkers. The second shot to a well protected green that runs fast from front to back could be anything from a 7 iron to a sand wedge.

Hole No. 3 - “Fairy Thorn” (Par 5)
At 511 yards the signature hole is a shortish par 5 with out of bounds on the right for most of the hole. May be reached in two by bigger hitters but the more modest will lay up leaving a pitch to the green. Beware of the fairy thorn as legend has it that any golfer who should strike the fairy thorn should apologise or risk the unmentionables!

Hole No. 4 - “The Pitch” (Par 3)
The shortest hole on the course - just a ‘wee flick’ or a ‘wee dunt’ some say! However, only 101 yards and a devilishly sloping green surrounded by bunkers makes this hole a proverbial card wrecker. If your tee shot doesn’t end up below the hole in summer you are guaranteed some putting practice! (Just the hole to bring out your Pro-V1)!

Hole No. 5 - “The Old Dublin Road” (Par 4)
Arguably the toughest hole on the course. At 455 yards off the medal tee with a tight out of bounds along the right this hole needs a good long, straight drive off the tee. Even then the player is faced with a demanding second shot to a narrow raised green protected by bunkers on each side and an open drain.

Hole No. 6 - “The Pancake” (Par 3)
A fade flirts with tall mature pines and out of bounds on the left and a draw has to avoid the greenside bunker. Add to this a green shaped like an upturned saucer and it all conspires to produce a very difficult short hole. Walk away with a ‘3’ on your card and you will be very happy!

Hole No. 7 - “The Pines” (Par 4)
At 306 yards the shortest par 4 on the course but not easy in any way. A well placed tee shot is required to leave a shortish pitch to a very small but deceptively fast raised green. Out of bounds on the left on the approach and not much room at the back of the green.

|
Hole No. 8 - “The Bandstand” (Par 3)
One of the most demanding par 3 holes you will ever play - 222 yards off the medal tee, out of bounds and mature pines guarding approach from the right - shot selection and execution is of paramount importance. Out of bounds and you will no doubt hear the resounding thud of your ball bouncing off the bandstand in Ormeau Park after which the hole is named!

Hole No. 9 - “Clubhouse View” (Par 4)
Nearly home but first you have to negotiate the 352 yard closing par 4. An iron of the tee for placement or the driver for length - it is your choice. The second shot needs to be accurate to a small well protected green and it is always nice to head towards your choice of refreshment with a closing ‘4’ on your card!
